As an adult beginner, but not a beginner musician, I have found this much more helpful than many of the (fiddle) methods–which seem to be primarily a sequence of tunes. I have the patience for and appreciate the value of “graded” exercises. Build quality is great, even though its plastic and it’s not as heavy as I’d expected it to be but it’s exactly very light either.
I cannot exactly describe it to be really portable cause this controller probably won’t fit into the usual backpacks.
